On December 15, 2014, Moxi Works presented a $15,000 donation to its neighbor and local charity the Pike Place Market Foundation. The Market Foundation was established in 1982 to “preserve and enhance the traditions and diversity of the Pike Place Market community.
The foundation is located right in the heart of Seattle’s famous and photogenic public market, and it uses its resources to build up the community around the market by developing affordable housing and providing medical care, food, and child care to more than 10,000 homeless and low-income residents in the area.
Moxi Works’ office sits less than a mile from Pike Place Market, and shares both a common geography and common mission of aiding homeless and at-risk youth with the Market Foundation. In 2013, Moxi Works partnered with the foundation to deliver a check of $1,500. In 2014, Moxi Works employees raised $15,000 for the community-oriented charity.
Moxi Works encourages donations directly from employee paychecks, but the bulk of contributions in 2014 originated from a series of fundraisers held throughout the year. From pay-to-play March Madness brackets to company pub trivia, the Moxi Works team combined social events with fundraising to meet the 2014 goal.
The donation will be used for any number of the Market Foundation’s versatile programs, one of which is the Pike Market Childcare & Preschool, where family services coordinators team up with whole families to ensure children from the area receive top tier education and nutrition. In 2015, Moxi Works hopes to continue to make a difference in the lives of youth in its community.
